Hi, my name is Angela Wilson, I am sixteen years old and I go to Park Mains High School in Erskine. I have just finished fifth year where I studied higher English, Administration, Business Management, Mathematics and French. My favourite subject is Business Management as I find it interesting. I work with my family in a family run business where I assist in recording weddings which I enjoy as it increases my confidence and allows me to interact with different people. I also enjoy going out with my friends in my spare time. I would like to continue studying business management in my future career and my dream would be to open up my own business.

 Hi i’m Fraser and i’m 16 and I go to Gryffe High School. The Recruit has been very enjoyable for me and it has taught me to work as a team, be a leader and love polyester. I really like music, my favourite genre is metal and my favourite band is Avenged Sevenfold.

I’m Paul. I’m 17, and in my free time I enjoy going for walks and writing humorous raps to amuse my friends.

Taking part in the Recruit has helped me better understand how the things I’m good at can fit in with a group of people whose skills lie elsewhere. As such, I’ve learned to focus more on the success of the team than my individual achievements – something which will no doubt prove useful in the world of work. 

Buenos dias, my name is Daniel Love and I am sixteen years old. I have attended Paisley Grammar school where I just finished my fifth year, studying Art and Design, Philosophy, Information Systems, English, and History. I am currently attending a summer business programme, known as ‘The Recruit.’ It shares the same goal as ‘The Apprentice’, where youths from around Scotland learn to be entrepreneurs. I enjoy having a laugh and socialising with friends, I love animals, nature and expressing myself creatively.

Awright, I’m Nathan Brackenridge and I’m 17 years old and I attend Johnstone High School. I’m mainly interested in Mountain Biking and have been for the past three years; as well it’s far better than football and stuff like that. I also go to Scouts and have been since I was like 8; it’s pretty good to be honest because it gives the opportunity to do outdoor activities. Basically I spend most of my time outdoors whether it be Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing and just generally doing exciting stuff.

Hia! :) I’m Gemma; I’m sixteen and used to go to Park Mains High School. I left at the end of fifth year after doing 5 Highers to hopefully have a job for a year or go to Glasgow University to study Business & German. When I’m older I want to first gain experience in an industry and then own my own business in that industry. I love my friends and family more than anything and I’m always happiest when spending time with them.

Hi, I am Lynn Reid, I am 16 years old, I attend Linwood High School where I am sitting; Higher Biology, Higher English, Higher Music and Sports Leadership. My hobbies are Horse Riding for 12 years. My other hobbies are Skiing and Snowboarding which I have been doing for 6 years. After school I am hoping to join the dog branch of the Police. I want to do this because I have always wanted to work with animals and I love working with the public.

My name is Jennifer Gargett, I am 17 years old, and I go to school in Trinity High School. I try to look on the positive side of life. I’m a happy individual who loves to laugh and have fun especially with the friends I’ve made here. I’m creative and love coming up with new ideas. So far I’ve had an amazing time at The Recruit and I’ve made friends that I’m sure will last throughout my life. :) Peace out homies!

Rachael: My name is Rachael Marriott, I’m 16 years old and I go to park mains high school. I think I’ve done well so far in the recruit as I work well in a team, I’m friendly and I can have a laugh. The recruit has helped me as I feel more confident and comfortable being a team leader. I also feel it has improved my speaking skills and how I manage in an interview situation. I have thoroughly enjoyed the recruit.

Aislinn: My name is Aislinn McIntyre, I’m 16 years old and I go to Linwood High School. I feel I’ve got on well in the Recruit because I can have a laugh but can still work well in a team. I’m also quite confident and can talk well to an audience. However, the Recruit has helped me become more confident and has shown me how to act in an interview. I get on with most people here. I have really enjoyed myself.

Hello! I’m Sarahjane, welcome to my section J I’ve been given around an 80 word limit to describe myself: mission impossible. I am a vivacious individual, who enjoys learning new things. People tend to describe me as energetic, motivated and cheerful, and I would say that’s about right. I’m the type of person that is in almost any committee at school, and loves meeting new people. However, when needed, I am also a very hard worker, and exude enthusiasm in anything I do.

Hi, my name is Chris and I have just finished sixth year in Trinity High School. I am also turning eighteen in the middle of November. I first of all applied for the recruit so that I could try new things and I do not regret applying for the recruit because it has been an amazing and very worth while experience.

My name is Nadia, I am eighteen and I used to go to Paisley Grammar and have recently finished my sixth year. I have a place in James Watt College but I am contemplating on whether or not to go because the recruit is effecting my views on life and I feel as though I don’t just have to be tied down to doing one thing. Being in the recruit has given me more skills and I now feel more confident as though i can achieve anything if I put my mind to it.

My name is Nicole Leggatt, I am 17, from Renfrew High School and I m a member of the Recruit. I entered the recruit to add to my experiences and to get involved with all the different tasks that would be happening. The experience of being in the Recruit helped because most of us gained an overall experience of business environment. The Recruit also helped me to become more confident working in a team with many obstacles in our way.

Following the successful launch on 24th May at Paisley Abbey, the 28 Recruits (representing all 11 of the secondary schools in Renfrewshire) went off to Auchengillan Scout Camp for three days to get to know each other and build their team working skills.  Days later they were launched into their first business challenge, re-profiling the Digital Futures Day event for the University of the West of Scotland, closely followed by a talk on interview skills and a day out creating videos to promote health and wellbeing.
